Title:
CRED Sea Surface Temperature (SST) Buoy; AMSM, TAU; Long: -169.41890, Lat: -14.23567 (WGS84); Sensor Depth: 0.33m; Data Range: 20020214-20020317.
Abstract:
Data from Coral Reef Ecosystem Division (CRED), NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) Sea Surface Temperature (SST) Buoys provide a time series of surface water temperature at coral reef sites. The SST buoy (Model SST-001, Sound Ocean Systems, Inc., www.soundocean.com/index.htm) with external temperature recorder (Sea-Bird Model SBE39, Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc., www.seabird.com) telemeters a subset of the daily data in Near Real Time (NRT) via a Telonics ST-13 or ST-20 ARGOS PPT transmitter and internally records higher resolution temperature data from the SBE39, typically at a 600 second sampling interval for a duration of 2 years. This record refers to the internally recorded (high resolution in situ) SBE39 temperature data. When a SST buoy is recovered, a new one is typically deployed in the same place. Time series data combining multiple deployments from a given site may also be available. Please contact CRED with any questions. Supplemental_Information:
Platform Manufacturer: Sound Ocean Systems, Inc. (SOSI), Platform Model: SST-001, Platform Serial Number: 268003; Instrument Manufacturer: Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc., Instrument Model: SBE 39 Temperature Recorder modified for SST, Instrument Serial Number: 39275490866. This record refers to two (2) data files that have the same name as this metadata file. The file with extension .ASC is the raw data uploaded from the instrument, including header information. Files with extension .CDP (CRED Data Product) have had the header information, pre and post deployment data removed and a preliminary quality control conducted by plotting and reviewing the recorded data and removing obviously erroneous records. Each row corresponds to a data record. Data within the .CDP file is supplied in columnar ASCII format: Column01: Year (UTC), Column02: Month (UTC), Column03: Day (UTC), Column04: Hour (UTC), Column05: Minute (UTC), Column06: Second (UTC), Column07: Temperature (Degrees Celsius). Instrument Specifications: Temperature (Degrees Celsius): Measurement Range -5 to 35; Initial Accuracy +/-0.002, Typical Stability 0.0002 per month, Resolution 0.0001. Clock Accuracy: 5 seconds per month..
