Title:
Northern Mariana Islands Marine Monitoring Team Sea Temperature Measurements
Abstract:
Site specific monitoring of sea temperature is conducted using submersible temperature dataloggers at selected sites and depths around the islands of Saipan and Rota.
Supplemental_Information:
Limited location data for 1999. Additional information deployment dates, instrument types, locations, etc. is available in this file.

Why was the data set created?

To document differences in variation in water temperature around Saipan and Rota to allow correlation with documented environmental changes, such as coral bleaching events.

How was the data set created?

  1. From what previous works were the data drawn?
  2. How were the data generated, processed, and modified?
Date: Not Complete (process 1 of 1)
    Underwater temperature dataloggers.

Original DAT files are trimmed of readings prior to placement in water and after removal from water and subsequently saved as Microsoft Excel files.

  3. What similar or related data should the user be aware of?

How reliable are the data; what problems remain in the data set?

  1. How well have the observations been checked?
Data are checked once to confirm that only in-water measurement data are retained.
  2. How accurate are the geographic locations?
Geographical positions determined by site names
  3. How accurate are the heights or depths?
    Depths determined by Depth gauges
  4. Where are the gaps in the data? What is missing?
Specific site location data is not available for 1999 measurements. Some gaps exist between measurements at same sites.
  5. How consistent are the relationships among the observations, including topology?
    High consistency.

How can someone get a copy of the data set?
