Title:
CRED Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) Hydrocast Data from 10 Select R/V Hi'ialakai and Oscar Elton Sette Cruises in the main Hawaiian Islands, Northwest Hawaiian Islands, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands 2007-2008 (NODC Accession 0052123)
Abstract:
The Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center, part of the National Marine Fisheries Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), conducted cruises in the main Hawaiian Islands, Northwest Hawaiian Islands, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands on the R/Vs Hi'ialakai and Oscar Elton Sette during 2007-2008. 10 select cruises comprising 200 profiles are included. Finalized data include the profiles of temperature, salinity, oxygen saturation, and fluorescense. Most hydrocast stations are near atolls and islands and typically reach to 500 m. Shallow casts can be of much shorter range.

Directory 0-data: files as provided by the originator

    1) Directory organization /ssyycc : a directory for each cruise, ss: ship yy:year cc:sequential

    2) Filenaming convention and formats FILENAME COMMENT xxxxxxx.cnv Final profile data; filename varies, extention always "cnv". Typically the filename has a sequence number or place name to denote the cast. ASCII format, Self-description header information

Directory 1-data: files created by NODC *ASCII CSV redundant copies were made for any cruise that included Excel spreadsheets or text files for Word documents. Directory names mirror 0-data/ as described above. Filenames are the same, except the name of a given sheet within an Excel file is concatenated to the root filename.
