Title:
CRED Ocean Data Platform (ODP), Acoustic Doppler Profiler (ADP); Guam, SRR; Long: 144.41778, Lat: 12.83819 (WGS84); Sensor Depth: 20.42m; Data Range: 20051007-20070121.
Abstract:
The Ocean Data Platform (ODP) is placed on the sea floor to measure water current profiles, waves, temperature and conductivity. The ODP consists of an upward looking acoustic doppler current profiler (ADP) (SonTek/YSI ADP, www.ysi.com) and a temperature/conductivity recorder (Model SBE37-SM, Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc., www.seabird.com). This metadata record refers to the SonTek ADP dataset. ADP sensors include three acoustic transducers, internal temperature sensor (temperature data automatically compensate for changes in sound speed), compass/tilt sensor (magnetic heading and 2-axis tilt) and a pressure sensor. When an ODP is recovered, another one is typically deployed in the same place. Time series data combining multiple deployments from a given site may also be available. Please contact CRED with any questions. For program information see the web site https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/pacific-islands/ecosystems/coral-reefs-pacific
Supplemental_Information:
Platform Manufacturer: Sound Ocean Systems, Inc. (SOSI), Platform Model: ODP, Platform Serial Number: 267008; Instrument Manufacturer: SonTek/YSI, Instrument Model: 1.0 MHz ADP, Instrument Serial Number: C437. This record refers to three (3) data files with the same name as this metadata file. The file with extension .ADP is the raw data uploaded from the instrument, including header information. Sontek ViewADPPro software was used to process the raw (.ADP) data and output a PUV.CDP file containing the raw time, pressure, horizontal and vertical velocity data and a WAV.CDP file containing mean wave burst (typically 1024 seconds in length) data of time, significant wave height, dominant period, mean U and V velocity. Files with extension .CDP (CRED Data Product) have had the header information, pre and post deployment data removed and a preliminary quality control conducted by plotting and reviewing the recorded data and removing obviously erroneous records. Each row corresponds to a data record. Data within the PUV.CDP file is supplied in columnar ASCII format: Column01: Year (UTC), Column02: Month (UTC), Column03: Day (UTC), Column04: Hour (UTC), Column05: Minute (UTC), Column06: Second (UTC), Column07: Pressure (lbs / inch^2), Column08: U eastward velocity (cm / second), Column09: V northward velocity (cm / second), Column10: W vertical velocity (cm / second). Data within the WAV.CDP file is supplied in columnar ASCII format: Column01: Year (UTC), Column02: Month (UTC), Column03: Day (UTC), Column04: Hour (UTC), Column05: Minute (UTC), Column06: Second (UTC), Column07: Significant wave height (meters), Column08: Dominant period (seconds), Column09: Mean U eastward velocity (cm / second), Column10: Mean V northwartd velocity (cm / second). Instrument Specifications: Frequency: 1000kHz. Maximum profiling range: 25 to 35 meters. Velocity (up to 100 range cells): Range +/-10m/s; Resolution 0.1cm/s; Accuracy +/-1% of measured velocity, +/-0.5 cm/s. Compass/Tilt Sensor (degrees): Resolution 0.1; Accuracy Heading +/-2; Accuracy Pitch/Roll +/-1..
