A series of bottom-mounted instrument packages were deployed in water depths of 10 m or less. These data support the ongoing process studies being conducted as part of the US Geological Survey Coastal and Marine Geology Program's Pacific Coral Project. Finalized data were provided in ASCII format for the waves, currents, and water levels. Other variables are summarized in graphics and described in a technical report. Purpose: To collect research-grade scientific data for providing baseline measurements to nearshore circulation studies. In particular, to better understand the impact of a river flood in a coral reef-lined embayment during quiescent summer conditions. Described as the "average height of the one third highest waves in the record". The US Army Corps of Engineers, Shore Protection Manual, 3-11, states that a useful estimate of significant wave height in deep water is defined as: Hs~4*sigma, where sigma is the standard deviation of the wave record. Statistically, the maximum wave height in the record is Hmax ~ 9*Hs/5.* Tpeak - Peak period, in seconds; inverse of the frequency with the highest energy in the reported spectrum.* DirTo Direction of wave propagation, in degrees, for the waves with the highest energy in the reported spectrum.METHODOLOGY:Tides, Currents:CRAMP site:A 600 kHz RD Instruments Monitor acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP)with an integrated pressure sensor was used to acquire this dataset.
