Reef 22 is miss-numbered as Reef 21 on Roy's (1970) map of the reefs of Kaneohe Bay (referenced on file). The incorrect number is used in this data file. Growth was assessed by measuring change in diameter of the test over part of a year. Three diameter measurements were made on each urchin with a pair of steel calipers (tips of plastic calipers rapidly wore down). Error in these measurements occurred because some urchins are asymmetrical and because spines interfered with closure of the caliper jaws.
