Abstract:
"The United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coral Reef Conservation Program (CRCP) Coral Reef Ecosystem Integrated Observing System (CREIOS) conducts mapping and monitoring of coral reefs, their biota, and their environments in U.S. coral jurisdictions. Reef mapping and benthic habitat characterization provide information on physical and biological structures, while field monitoring provides direct observations of reef ecosystem condition, and continuous in situ and satellite monitoring provides key environmental data. Through a partnership among various agencies, NOAA is developing a CREIOS structure that will adaptively address national-level priorities and local-level resource managersâ needs for data, information, and decision support tools."
