Abstract:
The Lower Bordeaux Watershed includes the southeast portion of Bordeaux Mountain that drains through several ghuts and empties into Coral Harbor. Development in this area has interrupted natural ghut flow paths, increased runoff, intensified vegetation debris getting washed onto culvert grates, added to small rock landslides down roads, and increased sediment in Coral Bay (Photo 1). The goals of this project were improving the stormwater management functions (best management practices [BMPs]) on a recently paved public road, restoring natural ghut flows, and stabilizing private road ghut crossings; thereby, reducing sediment entering the bay"--Executive summary.
