Abstract:
This project addressed a pressing need in Rincon, Puerto Rico, to protect the Elkhorn coral reefs located in the Reserva Marina Tres Palmas (RMTP), in several ways: through the continued multi?stakeholder process to develop a management plan for the RMTP; by conducting hands-on education and outreach activities targeted to the local community and local and Commonwealth agencies to raise awareness and understanding of coral reef ecosystems and to change behaviors that are harmful to coral reefs; and to survey users of the RMTP to advise aspects of its management.
