Abstract:
This report presents the results of the first field-based implementation of the McClanahan et al. (2012) framework from 35 sites around Saipan. This applied research was funded by the NOAA Coral Reef Initiative and is a collaboration of representatives of the following agencies: CNMI DEQ, NOAA, DFW, CRM, PMRI, and TNC. The resilience scores calculated are the average of the scores for 9 variables included in the analysis (the variables above minus coral disease and anthropogenic physical impacts, which were not observed). The relative categories high, medium and low were used to describe the scores for all independent variables and the resultant resilience scores. The report presents the results of the resilience analysis, including resilience rankings and maps, and presents suggestions for managers as well as our working group's plans to continue and advance the research presented here in 2013/14"--Executive summary.
