Abstract:
"The NOAA team provided conservation and natural resource management partners a socioeconomic monitoring training and technical support for a socioeconomic assessment in Weloy municipality, Yap, which included all 10 villages: Adubwee, Dugor, Kaday, Keng, Maa, Mabuu, Mulroo, Nimar, Nummung and Okaw. The purpose of the assessment was to help generate information for better understanding of the patterns of natural resource use of the communities in Weloy; their awareness, perception and attitudes of the communities towards Nimpal Marine Conservation Area (MCA) and their management and the Weloy Forest Stewardship Conservation Area; level of climate/disaster awareness and coping capacity of the Weloy communities; and the effectives ways of communication to support social cohesion and community activities. The project was initiated in September 2017 and has been recently completed."
