Abstract:
"This rain workshop was held in Fagaalu, American Samoa on August 25, 2015 by experts from the Horsley Witten Group and Hui o Ko'olaupoko under contract with the NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program, and with local partners including the American Samoa Coral Reef Advisory Group. This PowerPoint presentation gave an overview of what a rain garden is (and is not), its purpose, and the processes of siting and design, construction, and planting on areas, from small yards to large drainage areas. Information about rain garden maintenance and how to estimate costs are also provided. The primary purpose of a rain garden is to improve the quality of storm water runoff from its source to streams and to the ocean but an attractive landscape is also a positive result."
