Abstract:
"This glossary was developed for the Samoan language, in order to better explain concepts related to climate change, resilience and natural resource protection in the native Samoan language throughout the Samoan archipelago. Presently, words including resilience and adaptation are difficult to translate properly, and this is done differently from agency to agency, creating confusion when different agencies use different terminology to describe the same idea. A glossary will help in two ways: 1) it will assist community members in better understanding the various concepts in their own language ; 2) it will establish a common and accepted set of words to be utilized by all CRAG education and outreach (and natural resource agencies in general) when discussing climate change and resilience issues in Samoan."
