Abstract:
Report from a 2006 project using a multi-tiered approach to evaluate marine protected areas in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Methods included spiny lobster monitoring, sonic tagging, and fish sonic tagging in sanctuary zones and reference areas. Project goals were to document movement patterns and habitat use of lobsters and fish within and around the Western Sambo Ecological Reserve, and to evaluate the offshore bar as a potential spawning area for lobster and fish.
