Abstract:
Damage assessment report on the impact of the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami on the coral reef resources of Mu Ko Surin Marine National Park in Thailand. The U.K.-based NGO Coral Cay Conservation carried out underwater surveys and imported the data to a Geographic Information System (GIS) to produce data-contour maps, which are being used to recommend sites to monitor the rate and extent of coral recovery. The data is also being used to establish an ecological database to facilitate future monitoring of the park's reefs. Contents: 1. Introduction -- 2.
