Project Summary:
Due to the nature of this disease event; the number of individual partners contributing to research, monitor, and conduct potential intervention strategies; and the potential for misinformation and alarmist perceptions, there is a need to be proactive in our communication by developing coordinated and consistent messaging and communication tools/products that inform and reassure the public that the outbreak is being addressed. The outcomes of this project will serve to support all partners involved (Florida DEP, Florida FWC, TNC, Mote Marine Laboratory, among others). Project Objectives:Develop a strategic communications plan including key overarching messaging, specific messaging for a range of target audiences, and guidance for use of various platforms (e.g traditional media, social media, websites, etc).Develop a suite of consistent products that can be used to meet specific needs of each partnering entity mindful of ongoing changes in disease outbreak and research.Provide guidance on long-term use and adaptation of the communications plan and products.
Expected Outcome:
Develop a webportal to serve as a resource and repository of information related to the science, management action and partner efforts to understand and address the on-going coral disease event.
