Abstract:
Describes research into advanced techniques from the fields of spatial modeling, operations research, and fisheries management to determine critical factors for design of effective marine reserve plans for providing for sustainable reef fish stocks. Discusses retrospective assessment of snapper, grouper, and grunt fish stocks in Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Research results suggest the need for further research into the use of marine reserves to sustain exploited stocks.
