Abstract:

        Data from Coral Reef Ecosystem Division (CRED), NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) Recording Current Meters (RCM) provide a time series of water current and temperature at coral reef sites.  Time series data combining multiple deployments from a given site may be available.  Please contact CRED with any questions. Purpose:

        Monitoring of temperature and currents provides information about environmental factors influencing coral reef ecosystems.

        Platform Manufacturer: NA, Platform Model: NA, Platform Serial Number: NONE; Instrument Manufacturer: Aanderaa, Instrument Model: RCM-9, Instrument Serial Number: 415.  The raw data file (.dsu) is in a proprietary format of the manufaturer. The data is processed based on the calibration co-efficients and instrument setup parameter. The processed dataset (.TXT) is in the following columnar ASCII format: Record number, Date/Time (UTC), Reference value (not used),  current speed (cm/s), current direction (degrees magnetic), temperature (Celsius).  Instrument Specifications: Doppler Current Sensor (DCS) with a range of 0 to 300 cm/s and accuracy of 0.15 cm/s with a nominal standard deviation of 0.45 cm/s..
