Abstract:
This videorecording documents exploratory and sampling activities that occurred from the Johnson-Sea-Link II (JSL) submersible and the R/V Seward Johnson during leg 2 of the NOAA Ocean Exploration Program expedition, "Islands in the Stream 2002: Exploring Underwater Oases," conducted from Aug. 5-15, 2002. The mission focused on exploring the ecological communities of two reef habitats off the North Carolina coast, the Outer Shelf Hardgrounds (in water depths of 80-200 m) and Lophelia Reefs (in water depths of 400-500 m).
