Data from Coral Reef Ecosystem Division (CRED), NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) Wave and Tide Recorders (WTR) provide a time series of temperature, wave and tide data at coral reef sites. Data is typically collected for a duration of 2 years using a SBE26 or SBE26plus SEAGAUGE Wave and Tide Recorder (Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc., www.seabird.com). Sensors include: Real-time clock, thermistor, and Digiquartz temperature-compensated pressure sensor. When a WTR is recovered, a new one is typically deployed in the same place. Time series data combining multiple deployments from a given site may also be available. Please contact CRED with any questions. Monitoring of temperature, waves and tides provides information about environmental factors influencing coral reef ecosystems.
Platform Manufacturer: NA, Platform Model: NA, Platform Serial Number: NONE; Instrument Manufacturer: Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc., Instrument Model: SBE 26plus SEAGAUGE Wave and Tide Recorder (100psia/58meter Digiquartz Pressure Sensor), Instrument Serial Number: 26P368591029. This record refers to four (4) data files that have the same name as this metadata file. The file with extension .HEX is the raw data uploaded from the instrument, including header information. Seabird Electronics Inc's SeaSoftWaves software was used to process the raw (.HEX) data and output to Wave (.WB) and Tide (.TID) files. Files with extension .CDP (CRED Data Product) have had the header information, pre and post deployment data removed, a depth correction added and data from the .WB and .TID files (significant wave height, dominant period, tide and temperature) merged into a single file. A preliminary quality control was conducted by plotting and reviewing the recorded data and removing obviously erroneous records. Each row corresponds to a data record. Data within the .CDP file is supplied in columnar ASCII format: Column01: Year (UTC), Column02: Month (UTC), Column03: Day (UTC), Column04: Hour (UTC), Column05: Minute (UTC), Column06: Second (UTC), Column07: Significant wave height (Meters), Column08: Dominant period (Seconds), Column09: Water level (Meters), Coumn10: Temperature (Degrees Celsius). NaN (Not a Number) has been added where there is no data corresponding to a specific time stamp. Instrument Specifications: Standard Temperature (Degrees Celsius): Measurement Range -5 to +35; Accuracy +/-0.01; Resolution 0.001. Quartz Pressure (standard): Measurement Range 0-100 psia (0-58 meters); Accuracy 6.7 mm; Tide Resolution 0.4 mm for 1-minute integration, 0.02 mm for 15-minute integration; Wave Resolution 0.9 mm for 0.25-second integration, 0.2 mm for 1-second integration; Calibration 0 to 100 psia; Repeatability 3.3 mm; Hysteresis 3.3 mm. Real-time clock: Quartz TCXO watch-crystal type 32,768 Hz; accuracy +/- 2 ppm (5 seconds per month). Resource Description: WTR26P368591029_20101027.cdp
