Data from Coral Reef Ecosystem Division (CRED), NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) Subsurface Temperature and Pressure Recorders (STPR) provide a time series of water temperature and sea level pressure at coral reef sites. Data is typically collected at 1800 second intervals for a duration of 2 years using a SBE39 Temperature Recorder with Pressure Sensor (Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc., www.seabird.com). When a STPR is recovered, a new one is typically deployed in the same place. Time series data combining multiple deployments from a given site may also be available. Please contact CRED with any questions. For program information see the web site https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/pacific-islands/ecosystems/coral-reefs-pacific
Monitoring of temperature and sea level pressure provides information about environmental factors influencing coral reef ecosystems.
Platform Manufacturer: NA, Platform Model: NA, Platform Serial Number: NONE; Instrument Manufacturer: Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc., Instrument Model: SBE 39 Temperature Recorder with Druck Pressure Sensor (350m Max Depth), Instrument Serial Number: 39271720493. This record refers to two (2) data files that have the same name as this metadata file. The file with extension .ASC is the raw data uploaded from the instrument, including header information. Files with extension .CDP (CRED Data Product) have had the header information, pre and post deployment data removed and a preliminary quality control conducted by plotting and reviewing the recorded data and removing obviously erroneous records. Each row corresponds to a data record. Data within the .CDP file is supplied in columnar ASCII format: Column01: Year (UTC), Column02: Month (UTC), Column03: Day (UTC), Column04: Hour (UTC), Column05: Minute (UTC), Column06: Second (UTC), Column07: Temperature (Degrees Celsius), Column08: Depth (meters). Specifications for SBE39: Temperature (C): Measurement Range -5 to 35, Initial Accuracy +/-0.002, Typical Stability 0.0002 per month, Resolution 0.0001; Pressure: Measurement Range dependant on deployment depth capability in meters, Initial Accuracy 0.1% full scale range, Typical Stability 0.05% of full scale range per year, Resolution 0.002% of full scale range; Clock Accuracy: 5 seconds/ month. Instrument Specifications: Temperature (Degrees Celsius): Measurement Range -5 to 35; Initial Accuracy +/-0.002, Typical Stability 0.0002 per month, Resolution 0.0001. Pressure (meters): Measurement Range 0-350; Initial Accuracy 0.35; Typical Stability 0.175; Resolution 0.007. Clock Accuracy: 5 seconds per month.. Resource Description: STPR39271720493_20080314.cdp
