Abstract:
"Some of the linkages between atmospheric CO2 and the physical and chemical processes that it drives are summarized: climate change, increased sea surface temperatures, ocean acidification, tropical cyclone frequency/severity, and sea level rise. Links between these processes and specific threats to coral reef ecosystems are drawn. A strategic framework is proposed for how observations and forecasting systems can be coordinated as part of national meteorological and ocean services, alerting reef managers and policy makers to areas at high risk from both local and global pressures."
