Implementation of the National Coral Reef Action Strategy: Report on NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program Activities from 2010 to 2011

Report to Congress (2012) cover

This report covers coral reef-related activities conducted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coral Reef Conservation Program during Fiscal Years 2010 and 2011. It fulfills the requirement under the Coral Reef Conservation Act of 2000 of periodic reporting on the activities undertaken to advance coral reef conservation as outlined in the National Coral Reef Action Strategy.

During the period covered by this report, the Coral Reef Conservation Program operated pursuant to the goals and objectives organized under the following three themes established by the NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program Goals & Objectives 2010-2015: climate change impacts, fishing impacts, and impacts from land-based sources of pollution. The Coral Reef Conservation Program was also directed by goals and strategies outlined in the NOAA Coral Reef
Conservation Program International Strategy 2010-2015 and the NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program Communications, Education and Outreach Strategy 2010-2015. The goals described in each of these strategies guided most of the
funding and activities undertaken by the program from 2010- 2011, and the content is organized accordingly.
